I am an economist in the microeconomics research group at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. I completed my PhD in economics at the University of Chicago in 2021.
My research focuses on topics in labor and public economics, and quantifies the effect of government policies on children and households. I am currently measuring the effects of public libraries and public high schools on children using historical variation in the set of communities that had access to these local institutions.
I also work on forecasting-related projects, developing methods for forecasting unresolvable questions with collaborators at the Forecasting Research Institute and constructing high-frequency indices that track policy-relevant economic indicators.
Please feel free to email me (at karger@uchicago.edu) with any questions about my research, or just to say hello!
