EZRA KARGER

Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago
Ezra Karger

I am a senior economist in the microeconomics research group at the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. I completed my PhD in economics at the University of Chicago in 2021.

My economics research focuses on topics in labor and public economics, with a particular emphasis on quantifying the effects of government policies on children and households. I am currently measuring the effects of public libraries and public high schools on children using historical variation in the set of communities that had access to these local institutions.

I also spend much of my time on forecasting research, developing methods for forecasting unresolvable questions, conducting large surveys of experts on topics like the economic effects of AI with collaborators at the Forecasting Research Institute, and constructing high-frequency indices that track policy-relevant economic indicators with colleagues at the Federal Reserve.

Please feel free to email me (at karger@uchicago.edu) with any questions about my research or to say hello!
